The Public Interest Energy Research program is part of California Energy Commission's Research and Development program. The group asked the California Lighting Technology Center to make an online storefront to allow people qualified for their Group Purchasing Program, to shop for products and view their discounted prices. The Group Purchasing Program is a collaboration between PIER and certain vendors, to make energy efficient lighting technology more affordable to university campuses and other public facilities.
Since purchases would be made through the individual companies, rather than through PIER, I established a list system that would allow users to add desired items to a list and later allow them to review and print a list of products and contact information for vendors. This would allow them to easily contact vendors in regards to specific products or if they had more questions.
